Due to the governor's orders, our classes will continue remotely until the end of the year, unless the restrictions are lifted before then. Here is the address to the details of the governor's address today if you have not read it. https://www.governor.virginia.gov/media/governorvirginiagov/executive-actions/EO-55-Temporary-Stay-at-Home-Order-Due-to-Novel-Coronavirus-(COVID-19).pdf

Tuition for April and any outstanding March payments can be mailed or sent through pay apps to your tutors as they request. [Tutors, please contact your students with your address and any other information that they may need.] Please continue to work with your tutors this week to complete assignments/projects, enjoy a quiet, reflective spring to Easter break April 3-13, and return to online communications and class updates on April 14.

Due to the governor's statement today, we have reserved Saturday, June 13 for our graduation ceremony. This will be the new date if these restrictions stay in place. If the restrictions are lifted, we will have graduation on the previously secured date of Saturday, May 30.

Classes will not meet on campus this week (3/24 and 3/26) or next week (3/31 and 4/2). Be sure to check your email for assignments from your tutors and possible video conferencing meetings.

Spring break remains scheduled for the week of April 5th. The following week classes will resume remotely via email and whatever online communication individual tutors choose to implement.

In compliance with the governor’s executive order banning groups of more than 10 until midnight on April 23rd, we hope to resume tutoring sessions on campus on Tuesday, April 28th.

We are updating the current status of Areté based on the federal and state guidelines which limit gatherings/meetings to 10 and under during the next 10 days. We will not meet for classes next week, March 24 and March 26.

At this time, we are planning to resume class meetings in the Compass Church buildings on Tuesday, March 31** and Thursday, April 2**. There are no plans to alter our spring break; thus, classes will not meet on April 7 and April 9. Hopefully, the curve of the pandemic will decrease significantly by this point and we can resume our regular schedule on Tuesday, April 14. Of course, if your student has a compromised or weak immune system, please continue to work remotely with tutors from home.

**If the guidelines have not changed for the "10 and under" size meetings, we may set up an exchange of work/lessons on a staggered basis rather than holding regular class meetings for the 31st and 2nd. Please stay tuned as we continue to monitor and adjust plans based on the pandemic situation guidelines and recommendations. Tutors may offer class via Zoom or Skype; keep in touch with them.

Throughout this week, we have been prayerfully considering our response to the coronavirus concern while working closely with the Compass Church staff.

At this time there have been no persons associated with the virus or none infected by the virus on the campus of Areté. Though many school systems are closing for extra cleaning or to wait out the impact of the virus, Areté does not fit the criteria of 100 or more in a space. However, due to the current emergency directives by local and state governments and heightened concerns about gatherings, we will not meet in our Areté classrooms during the week of March 16. We will reassess the situation weekly as this concern continues.

We implemented extra cleaning precautions this past week and ask that each family within our Areté community follow these CDC guidelines:
If you are sick, running a fever, or think you are becoming sick, please stay home. If you or someone in your immediate family has been exposed to illness, please be cautious and considerate by self-quarantining for an adequate period of time before rejoining any group activities.

We will stay up to date with the developing conditions in our community.
As always, please alert the Board or tutors of any immediate concerns which may impact our community as quickly as possible.

Your students' tutors will communicate via email how his/her classes will handle ongoing work.
