Tutor Holly Mills
Biography: Holly earned her Masters in Secondary Education Math and taught both high school and middle school math for 10 years. Her favorite math to teach is Geometry. She loves showing students that a good educator makes all the difference in learning a subject that is often difficult. After a few years out of education, she and her husband decided she would be a stay-at-home-mom with their youngest children. In her free time, she enjoys going for walks, taking road trips, and visiting amusement parks with her husband and children.

Biography: Alexandria Smith is a dedicated professional known for her commitment to trust, family, and excellence in all her endeavors. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music, specializing in Vocal Performance, with a minor in Piano Pedagogy from Longwood University. Alexandria is an Associate Broker with Long & Foster Realtors and leads a successful Real Estate Team in the Richmond area. She and her husband, Josh, have been practicing Dave Ramsey’s financial principles since 2010 and have taught Financial Peace University at Mechanicsville Christian Center since 2020. She is also passionate about community involvement and actively seeks opportunities to contribute positively to her local area.

Biography: Breanne holds both a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from VA Tech. Upon completion of her degree, she taught second grade in Henrico County until her second child was born. She began her homeschooling journey in 2009 and has had the joy of graduating two children, with two more currently learning at home. A lifelong lover of mathematics, she looks forward to sharing her passion for the subject with her students. Breanne maintains a Virginia teaching license for PreK through 6th grade. Outside of teaching, she enjoys reading, playing board games, and photography.

Description | This course is designed to review middle school math and introduce students to beginning algebraic concepts. Some of the topics we will cover include operations with fractions, decimals, percents, exponents, order of operations, square roots, negative numbers, algebraic expressions, and other topics designed to prepare the middle school student for Algebra I. |

Description | The purpose of this class is to aid the student in understanding the basic concepts of algebra and to help the student acquire important algebraic skills. We will be using the Math-U-See Algebra 1 curriculum. The course is designed to prepare students to transition into Geometry or Algebra 2. A solid understanding of Pre-Algebra, fractions and decimals is essential before beginning this class. This class will have a midterm and final exam. Any questions about readiness should be directed to the tutor. |

Description | The purpose of this class is to aid the student in understanding the basic concepts of geometry and use these concepts to develop his or her math skills and increase problem-solving skills. This class will have weekly quizzes, three unit tests, a midterm and final exam. We will be using the Math-U-See Geometry textbook as the foundation of our study. |

Description | The Algebra 2 student will continue to develop concepts learned in Algebra 1. New topics introduced will build on this material and will include imaginary and complex numbers, conjugate numbers, binomial theorem, the quadratic formula, and graphing conic sections. A complete list of the topics taught can be found at www.mathusee.com under the Table of Contents for Algebra 2. There will be several hours of homework each week. This class does not have a mid-term exam, but will have weekly quizzes, three unit tests, and a final exam. |
